Gyeonggi Theme Alley Tourism - Uijeongbu City

Gyeonggi Province is fostering themed alley in the province to give visitors better experience.

Many people may not know that Uijeongbu City is the central city of northern Gyeonggi Province (the northern provincial government complex is located in Uijeongbu), but every Korean knows that Uijeongbu is famous for budaejjigae, a delicious spicy sausage and noodle stew.

When you get off at Jungang Station on the Uijeongbu Rail Line, you will immediately encounter a street of budaejjigae restaurants with throngs of people waiting in lines outside of restaurants, especially on the weekends. Taking advantage of this, Uijeongbu City's "Budaejjigae Street" was selected as one of the Gyeonggi Theme Alley Tourism projects.

If you come out of Exit 1 of Uijeongbu Jungang Station, you can visit the Fusion Culture and Tourism Promotion Center of Uijeongbu. Here, you can find information about each specialty buddaejjigae restaurant, the origin and characteristics of Uijeongbu’s Budaejjigae Street, and much more.

The highlight of the promotion center is a VR experience through which you can make your own budaejjigae, immerse yourself in the history of Uijeongbu, and learn about the origins of Budaejjigae Street. The center also shares stories of visitors, including those from abroad, who came here while dating and then returned with their children after marriage.

You can also see the Budaejjigae Street Guide in the promotion center, which provides introductions to the restaurants and some essential information.

@Gyeonggi Province

Budaejjigae Street is close to the promotion center, and you can see a large Budaejjigae Street sign across from the center. Most of the restaurants on Budaejjigae Street boast histories spanning 30 years, and each features its own seasonings, soup taste, side dishes, and cooking methods, so you can choose a dining experience that suits your own personal preferences.

The street is home to approximately a dozen budaejjigae restaurants, each of which is unique but all of which ensure pleasant experiences.
