Gyeonggi Province Actively Supports the 2022 Medical Resource Utilization Demanded Technology Advancement Project
With aging populations and increased health demand worldwide, the bio-health industry is a promising sector that is rapidly expanding.
The bio-health industry encompasses the manufacture of products used in the human body and service provision based on biotechnical, medical and pharmaceutical knowledge. It includes the production of medicines and medical devices, as well as the provision of medical and health management services such as digital health care.

Accordingly, Gyeonggi Province has been striving through various means to promote the growth of bio-health industry.
Recently, in order to develop new medicines and treatments needed in the medical field, Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggido Business & Science Accelerator have undertaken the recruitment of 4 medical institutions to participate in joint material development research based on medical resources.
The "2022 Medical Resource Utilization Demanded Technology Advancement Project” is geared to foster the bio/pharmaceutical industry and improve commercial technology. It refers to the undertaking of joint research with medical institutions in Gyeonggi Province based on clinical and R&D data accumulated in medical fields, and making use of the research base in the bio-center of the Gyeonggido Business & Science Accelerator. Notable results derived from this research will be passed on to bio companies in Gyeonggi Province for the development of products needed in medical fields.

The participants are medical institutions in Gyeonggi Province that are conducting research and development relevant to new medications and bio-products; they are required to have at least one hospital or research center located in Gyeonggi. Up to KRW 40 million is being allocated to the recruiting process.
Through the use of exceptional resources from medical fields in the province and the research base of the Gyeonggido Business & Science Accelerator's bio-center, this project aims to help local bio companies enter the bio-health market and enhance their R&D competitiveness. Gyeonggi Province is maximizing its bio-resources in the provision of various supports so that bio-pharmaceutical companies can grow.
Gyeonggi Province will continue to do its utmost in this regard.
