Gyeonggi Province is launching the ‘Paldo Nurim Car’ program to provide vehicles to disabled persons and related organizations in the province
Gyeonggi Province announced that it is launching the ‘Paldo Nurim Car’ program to support travel by disabled groups from June 13.
The Paldo Nurim Car program, operated in conjunction with the Gyeonggi Disabled Persons General Support Center, features two vehicles: a recreational vehicle (RV) that can carry one wheelchair, and a large 29-passenger bus that can carrying up to six wheelchairs.
The Paldo Nurim Car program operates not only on weekdays, but also on weekends; it is available for nationwide excursions 365 days a year. The vehicles can be used for up to two nights and three days per trip for up to a total of seven days a year.
Also, while the recreational vehicle does not include a driver, a driver is available for the large bus. And users are provided with free car insurance during their travels.
However, vehicle users are responsible for some expenses such as fuel and traveler’s insurance.
Subjects
Then who can use the Paldo Nurim Car program? It is open to disabled persons and related institutions (facilities, organizations, associations, etc.) in the province.
The recreational vehicle requires a minimum of three passengers including at least one disabled passenger, while the large bus requires a minimum of five passengers including at least one disabled passenger.
Available Regions
The Paldo Nurim Car vehicles can be used to travel anywhere nationwide excluding isolated regions (e.g. Jeju Island, Ganghwa Island, Geoje Island, etc.).
How to Apply
Applications for vehicle use are accepted on the 1st of every month through the Nurim Center website (www.ggnurim.or.kr).
Priority is given to travel itineraries that include disabled persons in wheelchairs from the 1st to the 7th of every month, with other itineraries being accepted without such restrictions from the 8th of every month.
Applications were already being accepted from May 3 for the June launch of the
Paldo Nurim Car program.
We are confident that this program will be a boon to disabled individuals in the province
who have previously suffered great difficulties with group and long-distance travel,
helping them to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Korea.
Guaranteeing mobility and more, Gyeonggi Province will continue to pursue policies for disabled individuals so as to create a Gyeonggi Province in which disabled individuals can live without discomfort or inconvenience through improved living environments and conditions.
