Gyeonggi Province offers welfare crisis counseling via call center
Korea, a nation that once suffered from extreme poverty as a result of the Korean War that occurred 70 years ago, has since realized remarkable growth and now ranks among the top 10 nations in terms of GDP.
While Korea is a good country in which to live, many people have complained of difficulties in living here despite the heightened life quality.
In particular, due to the ongoing pandemic and recent global inflation, many people are having a hard time in the current economy.

Gyeonggi Province Strives for Welfare Benefits
Since welfare is a right, not a benefit, Gyeonggi Province has stepped up its efforts for residents who are facing welfare crises such as basic living difficulties.
The 120 Call Center Hotline for Emergency Welfare Counseling, which can arrange emergency counseling, welfare support, and follow-up management with just one phone call, officially began operation on September 5, 2022. Anyone suffering from life problems, or even their concerned neighbors, can call "031-120" and follow the voice response system to receive emergency welfare counseling.
Six public officials in the health and welfare sector will be assigned to the emergency welfare counseling call center that will operate from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the week.
Reservations for counseling should be made from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next day, and health and welfare officials will respond via the phone number provided with reservation information immediately after business hours.
