Uijeongbu City - A Center of Startups in Gyeonggi Province
The term “startup” refers to a newly established venture company, frequently an IT technology-based and/or application service operation. This term was first used in Silicon Valley in the U.S., and the dot-com bubble of the late 1990s led to a startup boom.
Startups typically have many innovative ideas but lack basic capital. Accordingly, they secure financial resources through investments or funding.
Recently, 34 domestic startups supported by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency were selected by the American Consumer Technology Association as the winners of 48 CES Innovation Awards.

Gyeonggi Province has also allocated much funding and support to discover and foster nascent start-ups that will lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In addition to supporting such start-ups, the province has focused on creating a virtuous cycle in its start-up ecosystem by strengthening the curriculum to foster young entrepreneurs, expanding policy funding, and raising funds.
Uijeongbu, a representative city in northern Gyeonggi Province, opened a creative start-up market late last year in conjunction with Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Content Agency. Thirty superlative start-up products cultivated at the Gyeonggi Northern Culture Creation Center were designed to expand related test beds and content bases through hands-on sales to residents of northern Gyeonggi Province.
Recently, there were fewer opportunities for startups to promote on-site due to the global pandemic, but this represented an opportunity to pioneer the market.

Uijeongbu City plans to use Camp Red Cloud, a former U.S. military installation, to connect future jobs of the Uijeongbu government with jobs for young people. The city is also in consultation with related agencies to realize its goal of fostering startups, creating bio-tech medical complexes, and attracting industry anchors.
In addition, efforts are being made to upgrade the existing Yonghyeon Industrial Complex to a center of future industries, thereby transform it into a site suitable for start-ups with many jobs, by focusing on future knowledge-based projects.

Gyeonggi Province's Uijeongbu City will continue to support the start-ups of young entrepreneurs and will also strive to drive various measures for their advancement.
With the support of Uijeongbu City, you will soon be able to see more startups emerge as global giants like Google and Facebook.
