A festival celebrating the cultural aspects of gaming is coming to Pangyo, the mecca of the Korean gaming industry!
On September 8 and 9, the two-day gaming culture festival 'GXG 2023' will take place at Pangyo Station Square, Pangyo Techwon Tower, and Kakao Pangyo Azit in Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province.
GXG 2023 aims to explore and foster enjoyment of the cultural aspects of gaming in Pangyo, the heart of the Korean gaming industry. It goes beyond simple game exhibitions and demonstrations, delving into various perspectives such as music, storytelling, design, characters, psychology, AI, and more.
At Pangyo Station Square, there will be performances by office worker bands from game companies like Nexon, NCsoft, Smilegate, and more. The event will also feature a game OST orchestra concert, game merchandise event auctions, and entertaining shows featuring invited influencers.
Pangyo Techwon will host lectures on various topics, including the Metaverse, esports, virtual reality (VR), big data, and artificial intelligence (AI). Speakers include the artist Heukyeoseok, who contributed to the Devsisters' trading card game 'Cookie Run: Braves,' Kim Kyung-il, the Chairman of the Game Culture Foundation, and Na Seung-hoon, the author of Naver Webtoon's 'Don't Let Go of the Mental Thread.' They will share their experiences and knowledge on stage.
"We prepared the event based on our responsibility as a mecca for the game industry," said Kwon Woo-young, head of the Seongnam City’s Business Promotion Division. "We want to make it a festival where more people can understand games as cultural art and enjoy them together."
This event goes beyond simple game exhibitions and demonstrations to focus on highlighting games as a cultural and artistic medium. Efforts are being made to provide a wide range of opportunities for understanding and sharing the many facets of gaming.
