Founded in 2006, Paju English Village started as a lifelong education institution, along with Ansan City and Yangpyeong City. In 2011, it was officially renamed following the integration of the Paju English Village and the Gyeonggi Lifelong Education Promotion Institute. By 2016, it had transformed into an institution for nurturing talent with future education programs, expanding its educational scope to include these alongside its existing English education programs.

Not only a place for education, but since 2018, it has also opened its doors free of charge to the general public throughout the year.

Paju English Village creates an exotic atmosphere with its European-style buildings, clock tower, tram tracks, and various statues. At night, the subtle lighting adds to the romantic ambiance. It's popular for walks near Seoul and as a dating spot in Gyeonggi Province. It has also become famous as a filming location for various Korean dramas and commercials, such as "Memories of the Alhambra", "The Last Empress", and "Vagabond". While photography is allowed inside, commercial use requires prior consultation.
