The Lunar New Year holiday is just around the corner!

The Lunar New Year, or 'Seollal' in Korean, is one of Korea’s traditional holidays, celebrated on the first day of the lunar calendar. It usually falls a few weeks to a month after the solar New Year commonly observed in Western cultures.

On this special day, Koreans perform 'Sebae' (a traditional bowing ritual to greet the New Year) and enjoy eating 'Tteokguk' (rice cake soup), symbolizing the start of a new year and conveying wish for health and good fortune.

🍲 Bonggong’s Easy and Delicious Tteokguk Ingredients:

• Tteokguk rice cakes (떡국 떡)
• Packaged beef bone broth (사골국물)
• Sesame oil (참기름)
• Garlic (마늘)
• Green onions (대파)
• Eggs (계란)
• Fish sauce (까나리액젓)
• Sesame seeds (통깨)

Cooking Instructions:

1. Soak the Tteokguk rice cakes in cold water.
2. Add the rice cake to a pot of boiling beef bone broth.
3. Add half a spoon of garlic and chopped green onions, and let it boil for a while.
4. Whisk the eggs and slowly add them to the pot, then stir well.
5. Add half a spoon of fish sauce to season.
6. Finally, drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds to finish.

With these simple ingredients and steps, you can easily make Tteokguk, a main dish for the Lunar New Year. 😊
